We are delighted that our joint proposal “Eyes inside out: Visual coding without a multilayered retina in squid and worms” with Mike Bok (Lund, Sweden) was selected for funding in the latest round of HFSP grants.

This means that over the next few years, we will have a go at the retinal basis of vision in cephalopods and Alciopids! Our lab will focus on the structure and function of the eyes, while Mike Bok’s group will focus on molecular aspects and behavioural ecology!

I know cuttlefish, but what is an alcopid, you ask? It’s a worm! With big chunky octopus-like eyes! Evolved independently… Picci below, but why not go straight for the TikTok video!
